About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop meaningful volunteer opportunities with Autism Delaware staff
  • Recruit, cultivate, and maintain relationships with individual, community, and corporate volunteers and partners
  • Manage volunteer needs for major fundraising events, outside fundraisers, and social/recreation community events
  • Further develop and implement POINT, a volunteer management system
  • Maintain volunteer management guidelines consistent with the organization's mission, strategic plan, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and cultivate new corporate volunteer partners through research and outreach
  • Create a year-round volunteer stewardship communications program
  • Develop event-based communications plans with job descriptions and attendee information
  • Develop a volunteer recognition program
  • Grow the Community Ambassador Program, including volunteer training and event execution
  • Represent Autism Delaware at outside events and serve as a secondary representative at social/recreation events
  • Curate and maintain a tabling kit
  • Coordinate the organization's Program Calendar
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure proper representation at outside tabling opportunities
  • Provide clear, accurate, timely, and thorough reporting
  • Maintain constructive relationships with internal and external audiences
  • Participate in meetings, agency-wide events, committees, networking, community events, and organizational initiatives
  • Research and stay current on best practices in volunteer management and community engagement
  • Perform duties in accordance with applicable laws and Autism Delaware policies
  • Maintain a safe and hazard-free work environment
  • Support additional Development or organizational tasks as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in business, education, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field; or at least two years of professional experience in volunteer engagement, community outreach, or a related area
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in using personal computers and software, including database systems and finance systems, SharePoint, word processing, and spreadsheets
  • Ability to work with diverse and competing interests of internal and external constituency groups
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and favorable driving record
  • Reliable transportation and access to a personal vehicle
  • Successfully pass background checks
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with evenings and weekends required for events
  • Regular in-state travel
  • Ability to walk, lift, and stand during events; ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.
