About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop end-to-end architectural designs for new and existing telecommunications solutions, including mobile, broadband, and enterprise services, ensuring scalability, flexibility, and performance.
- Oversee the integration of diverse technologies, systems, and platforms to deliver cohesive and efficient solutions.
- Prototype, and collaborate with development teams to implement architectural patterns such as event-driven architectures, and adoption of open API standards.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of business needs and technical capabilities to design tailored solutions that address current and future requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify constraints, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement in the design process.
- Define clear architectural guidelines, frameworks, and principles to guide the design and implementation of systems and services.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate architectural implementations to ensure they meet organisational goals and adapt to evolving business priorities.
- Design architectures that support modularity, scalability, and maintainability, ensuring alignment with overall enterprise goals.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, staying informed about industry trends, and assess their potential impact on the company's architecture strategy.
- Advocate for the adoption of modern technologies that enhance performance, scalability, and customer satisfaction, while phasing out outdated solutions.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence by mentoring teams on best practices, architectural principles, and modern tools.
- Identify and mitigate architectural risks, ensuring system resilience and reliability.
- Conduct impact analyses for changes in technology, processes, or business priorities.
- Act as the primary liaison between business and technology groups, facilitating effective communication and understanding.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to executives, project managers, and cross-functional teams.
- Work closely with product teams, solution architects, and engineering teams to ensure architectural coherence and compatibility.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for architectural designs, decisions, and processes.
- Define and promote architectural standards and guidelines across the organisation.
- Proven ability to align technical solutions with business goals and customer needs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex architectural challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate architectural visions and decisions.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to influence and inspire stakeholders at all organisational levels.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor degree in computer science, telecommunications engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years Experience in the telecommunication industry and working in commercial grade IT teams.
- Proven experience developing enterprise grade business systems, API designs, and hands on experience with service-oriented architecture, event-driven architecture, and infrastructure architecture.
- A deep understanding of network technologies used to deliver data, voice, and unified communications services.
- Experience working on partner-led COTS & SaaS implementation projects (eg. Salesforce, ServiceNow, etc).
- Experience in TM Forum Open Digital Architecture (ODA).
- A history of evangelising good architecture and design practices across the organisation.
- A passion for user-experience outcomes and the ability to translate business requirements into solutions that are loved by users.
- Exposure to vendor selection processes, building rubrics, and business cases, product catalogues, product ordering, automated provisioning, product and network inventory, orchestration, project management, billing, and assurance.
- Exposure to solutions architecture and BSS/OSS components.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
