About the role
- Work with Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Capital Equipment groups to develop “Best Practices” tooling line-ups for different products/processes.
- Create detailed tooling specifications for external sourcing of new tooling, in close cooperation with Procurement, Plants, Product Engineering and Program Management Teams.
- Serve as primary technical contact for external tooling vendors: Specification review and quoting, Design review and acceptance.
- Complete routine progress checks with supplier to evaluate progress and mitigate risk.
- Standardize Tooling and Components across Plants as much as possible and applicable.
- Actively support tooling launches at plants including travel as needed.
- Support tooling feasibility studies.
- Conduct and lead ECMA buyoff process for all in house tooling prior to shipping.
- Provide technical input for new product quotations.
Requirements
- Bachelors in a Technical Field
- 5+ years automotive experience, preferably in a technical role
- Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong multitasking and organization skills
- Experience in automotive and tooling terminology is a plus.
