About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the trading and structuring of energy purchase and sale transactions, seeking the best price, term and risk conditions for the portfolio;
Monitor and interpret relevant energy market variables — PLD, GSF, submarkets, hydrology, load, generation, prices, liquidity, regulatory signals and market movements — translating them into trading opportunities;
Build and validate scenarios, sensitivity analyses and stress tests to assess market opportunities and risks;
Develop and review economic-financial analyses that support buy/sell decisions, pricing, product structuring and portfolio management;
Monitor positions, exposures, performance metrics, limits and risk indicators of the trading desk, ensuring adherence to governance policies;
Conduct risk-return assessments of transactions, clarifying assumptions, potential impacts and key considerations for decision-making;
Originate and develop commercial relationships with clients, generators, retailers and other market participants, identifying new business opportunities;
Ensure documentation of analyses, assumptions, decisions and lessons learned, strengthening governance and traceability of desk operations;
Interact and align with partner areas such as Risk, Commercial, Planning, Backoffice, Regulatory, Technology and Market Intelligence, acting as a technical reference on trading topics;
Propose and drive improvements in processes, databases, automations, dashboards and analytical tools of the desk;
Use data tools and generative AI to increase productivity, analytical coverage and quality of recommendations;
Keep up with trends in the power sector, financial markets, commodities, regulation and new technologies applicable to decision-making, anticipating risks and opportunities for the business.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, Accounting or related fields.
Minimum 5 years' experience on a trading desk, energy commercialization or origination in the free (liberalized) energy market.
Solid knowledge of PLD, GSF, submarkets, seasonality, power contracts, physical backing (lastro), exposure, liquidity, market risk and power sector regulation.
Strong analytical and quantitative reasoning, with expertise in economic-financial modeling, sensitivity and scenario analysis, and risk-return evaluation.
Ability to structure complex problems and translate analyses into objective, defensible recommendations.
Good communication skills to defend recommendations and interact with different areas and hierarchical levels.
Collaborative, proactive, organized and ownership-minded profile, able to operate in a dynamic environment with ambiguity and results pressure.
Advanced Excel required.
Proficiency in PowerPoint for building analyses and executive presentations.
Knowledge of Power BI, Python, SQL, VBA or automation tools will be considered a strong plus.
Familiarity with generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, Claude or similar, applied to productivity, analysis, research and decision support.
Experience with databases, dashboards or market monitoring tools will be an advantage.
Advanced or fluent English, essential for following international commodity and energy markets, reading reports and occasional engagement with foreign counterparties/investors.
Spanish is a plus.
