About the role
- Lead and build Audubon’s Community Building program in LAC to foster internal and external partnerships
- Lead the development of Audubon’s engagement efforts to increase support for birds and bird habitat conservation
- Work with the LAC Communications team to develop and implement strategies to build strong, lasting public engagement in conservation
- Collaborate with LAC program staff supporting Protected Areas, Regenerative Agriculture, and Coastal Resilience Initiatives
- Work with colleagues and partners to include equity, diversity, and inclusion considerations in plans for all programs
- Support a culture of philanthropy and secure funds from individuals, foundations, and bilateral and multilateral agencies
- Develop partnerships and relationships with funders, donors, and strategic partners
- Develop and manage program and grant budgets
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas including through joint planning and execution of shared priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 10+ years' relevant experience in Latin America in community building, wildlife conservation, public service, or related field, including at least three years managing staff and teams, required
- A dynamic, high-level strategic thinker, a great spokesperson, and an effective manager
- Exceptional leadership skills in a multi-national and multi-cultural context
- Superb written and verbal communication and presentation skills required
- Commitment to Audon’s organizational values
- Demonstrated personal and professional commitment to and experience in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- In-depth experience with community organizing and engagement in diverse communities
- Clear track record of success in operational roles
- Proven experience in networking, engaging, and successfully cultivating diverse community partners and partnership projects
- Demonstrated experience overseeing complex or multiple projects through to success
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, judgment, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate and build coalitions
- Willingness to travel internationally and comfort working evenings and weekends as job responsibilities demand
- Demonstrated interest in conservation and commitment to the mission of the National Audubon Society
- Experience fostering inclusive and collaborative work environments is valued
- Written and verbal fluency in English and Spanish is required.
