About the role
- Answer IT Support phone and respond to ticket queue – this is the first point of contact for Murdoch’s IT Support.
- Support Point of Sale, including maintain and install POS computers, signature capture pads, receipt printers, scanners, cash drawers and invoice printers.
- Initiate and track all company hardware replacement and repair.
- Contact Dell Technical Support and arrange onsite computer repairs.
- Ensure that our retail stores and our Home Office are online and running properly - everything from computer hardware and applications to auxiliary devices and much more!
- Proactively detect, troubleshoot, and resolve all issues affecting production systems and applications.
- Provide clear, concise, and timely communication to affected parties during the investigation and resolution of any individual or system-wide outage.
- Weekly proactive calling of stores to identify current issues and needs.
- Represent Murdoch’s in a positive and professional manner.
- Demonstrate “team” attitude.
- Exhibit strong follow-through on all tasks at hand.
- Support Specialists will be called on to work outside the 8-to-5 day when the organization’s activities require IT support beyond those hours.
- IT Support Specialists may be on call during weekends or scheduled to work weekends with a weekday scheduled off.
Requirements
- Effective technical problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to gather information, evaluate options and offer good solutions.
- Excellent customer service skills are a must.
- Must have patience and enjoy helping others.
- Computer software and hardware repair experience, including replacing failed components, reloading operating systems and applications.
- Basic network configuration.
- Able to learn modern technologies through self-study.
- Able to work independently.
- Have software application knowledge and be able to support MS Dynamics 365, MS 365 and other applications.
- Teamwork.
- Positive attitude.

- Physical Demands: Sitting for long periods of time. Repetitive wrist movements on keyboard. Close vision for PC work. Bending, carrying, and pushing. Heavy lifting (no more than 50-lbs). Ability to travel occasionally as needed for installation/repair/update of hardware.
