Key responsibilities & impact

Develop concepts and well-engineered mechanical designs for mechanisms used in automated assembly systems.
Use CAD to produce layouts, parts, assemblies, detail drawings, and bill of materials.
Work with other project team members to meet or exceed the Customer’s expectations regarding function, quality and schedule.
Adhere to all established procedures as defined by ATS Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, and the Employee Handbook.
Design cam, servo, and air operated stations and make changes to existing designs.
Ensure the design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate ATS standards and regulatory requirements.
Set and maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
Support and participate in quality management program.
Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, bill of materials, organize release packages, and update drawings.
Participate in internal and customer design reviews.
Prepare pneumatic and timing diagrams and select appropriate sensors.
Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues.
Problem-solve design or detail issues and update all appropriate documentation.
Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form.
Follow all policy and procedures to adhere to International Standardization Organization (ISO) 9001 certification requirements.
Help guide and mentor Level I Mechanical Engineers with the execution of their designs and projects.

Requirements

What you’ll need

College degree in mechanical engineering, technology or equivalent experience
Two to six (2-6) years of automation experience
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, 3D Solid Works or similar CAD systems
Proficient with computers, including programs such as AutoCAD, Solid Works, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
Able to operate fax machines, copiers, printers/plotters, etc.
Proficient with inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, etc.
