About the role

  • Design, development, troubleshooting, and documentation of complete control programs for custom automation equipment.
  • Programming of control systems using PLC’s, PC’s, servo drives, robots, and specialized controllers.
  • Troubleshoot controls and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility.
  • Make necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status.
  • Report and correct abnormal equipment conditions.
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Support developing operating and troubleshooting knowledge of the operations team.
  • Review/suggest additional tools or equipment for better operation.
  • Lead on-site team and liaise with customer and ATS Project Manager.
  • Complete detailed Service Reports and ensure customer issues are resolved.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in programming/electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in a hands-on automation/controls environment.
  • 3+ years of experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI) using Allen Bradley or Siemens software.
  • Must be willing to travel to customer sites. Travel time will range from 50 to 75% per month.
  • Excellent understanding of pneumatic, electrical and multiple controls systems.
  • Ability to read drawings, reference manuals and systems instruction guides.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work with all levels of customer and ATS management in a multi-disciplined engineering environment under pressure.
