About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and drive the technical vision and direction for the Foundations group
- Lead architecture decisions for integration patterns, caching infrastructure, and shared services
- Design APIs, data models, and integration patterns for clinical and member experiences
- Serve as a technical escalation point and conduct design reviews
- Drive SLOs, capacity planning, and incident-ready designs
- Execute high-priority, technically challenging projects and own end-to-end delivery of complex multi-team initiatives
- Design and implement application-performance strategies and caching infrastructure
- Monitor and optimize platform performance and establish best practices
- Partner with product engineering teams to provide platform solutions
- Build and maintain shared libraries, SDKs, and internal APIs
- Create documentation, examples, and guidelines for platform services
- Provide technical guidance during product-team integration efforts
- Embed testability through unit, functional, and contract tests
- Ensure consistent Mixpanel analytics instrumentation
- Set up outcome-focused dashboards and monitoring with Product and Data
- Drive post-incident reviews and systemic improvements
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design guidance, pairing, and code review
- Define and uphold engineering standards, architecture patterns, and documentation norms
Requirements
What you’ll need- ~8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time as a senior/staff IC building product experiences in production
- Track record of owning and shipping multi-team projects in modern web stacks
- Experience working closely with product and design on user-facing features
- Comfortable leading technical decisions in ambiguous domains and defending decisions with clear tradeoffs
- Strong full-stack skills, including API and data-model design, UI development, monitoring, and metrics
- Deep familiarity with at least one cloud provider and infrastructure-as-code
- Strong systems-design instincts covering reliability, performance, security, and cost
- Excellent debugging and incident-response skills with logs, traces, and data
- Ability to lead through influence across multiple teams and partners
- Comfort working cross-functionally with clinicians, operations, and research
- Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Enjoyment of mentoring and developing engineers
- Experience in healthcare, digital health, or regulated domains is nice to have
- Exposure to EHRs, wearables integrations, or health data platforms is nice to have
