About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of Mechanical engineers delivering technical design work on complex multidisciplinary projects
- Deliver high-quality designs for pumping systems and water and wastewater treatment
- Lead development of project design deliverables for Mechanical aspects
- Work with project management teams to manage time, budgets, milestones, and programmes
- Manage production, review, and approval of design reports, drawings, calculations, and scopes of work
- Provide technical leadership within the regional and national D&AT practice
- Influence practice-wide initiatives and recommend best practices to improve processes and services
- Grow, develop, and manage Mechanical Engineering capabilities regionally and/or nationally
- Exercise independent judgment to solve difficult problems and guide junior team members
- Advise client, operational, project, and service activities
- Manage or collaborate on technical aspects of bid proposals
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Chartered Mechanical Engineer
- Proven experience leading large-scale Mechanical engineering design delivery for a design consultancy
- Experience within a multi-disciplinary environment
- Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience in mechanical equipment design integration, including pumps, blowers, screens, and chemical dosing systems
- Thorough understanding of current UK design standards, relevant legislation, and established industry practices
- Exemplary communication skills and ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders
- Expert knowledge of current design codes and standards and industry best practices
- Strong understanding of CDM and DSEAR legislation
- Proficiency in applicable analytical software and related tools
- Essential experience in the Water market
- Proactive, highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach
- Comfortable liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- May require security clearance
- If clearance is required, candidates may need to provide proof of UK residency for 5 years or longer
