About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze blueprints and other documents and prepare detailed cost estimates
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from available design documents
- Lead conceptual and feasibility cost model estimates using historic benchmarking information and industry experience
- Obtain current pricing information from databases, contractors, and suppliers
- Review and finalize estimate unit-cost pricing based on market conditions and project logistics
- Review historic benchmark cost information and highlight variances
- Work with architects and engineers to understand project scope during estimate preparation
- Develop relationships with A/E firms and project team members
- Prepare cost reconciliations between estimates and explain variance cost drivers
- Provide cost estimates for the EWR Redevelopment program, including the new EWR AirTrain, AirTrain stations, Terminal B planning, landside sitework and utilities, and airport facility improvements or relocations
- Reconcile estimates with contractor bids
- Perform other duties assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years’ aviation experience preferred
- High-level cost estimating experience for cost studies and projects
- Ability to work independently with PA engineers
- Fluent in MS Excel, On-Screen Takeoff, and SharePoint document control
- Full-time role based out of EWR
- Ability to work on site 4 days per week, as mandated by the Port Authority
