About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform geometric design for road and highway infrastructure projects
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed design packages for multidisciplinary projects, including plans, profiles, cross-sections, grading and drainage, property acquisitions, geometrics and laning, signing and pavement markings, detours, and construction staging
  • Prepare 3D digital models of proposed designs
  • Develop cost estimates using quantity take-offs and unit prices
  • Review work and complete quality control procedures
  • Lead or support proposals and fee estimates
  • Mentor, coach, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and technicians
  • Contribute to or prepare design briefs, design criteria, engineering reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Present project materials and results to clients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with EGBC
  • 7+ years of progressive civil engineering experience in road and highway design
  • Experience with CAD/Civil 3D
  • Experience preparing design reports and technical notes
  • Working knowledge and application of TAC Geometric Design Guidelines
  • Working knowledge and application of BC MoTT Supplement to TAC
  • Working knowledge and application of AASHTO design standards
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments within Canada
