About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze, develop, and improve industrial processes
  • Support the design and analysis of mechanical components and system designs for nuclear and commercial projects
  • Collaborate with production teams, quality control, and other engineers to ensure efficient processes and compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  • Design chemical engineering systems including reaction vessels, filtration systems, ion-exchange skids, piping, and vessel systems
  • Select commercially available equipment such as pumps, valves, pipe fittings, in-line components, and filtration systems
  • Perform engineering calculations including mass and energy balances, pressure profiles, and pipe, pump, and vessel sizing
  • Run experiments and tests to support design documents and plant modifications
  • Apply relevant design criteria, specifications, practices, procedures, codes, and site design, safety, and licensing bases
  • Work in multidisciplinary, project-based teams and integrate designs across disciplines
  • Mentor and conduct quality reviews of junior colleagues when needed
  • Check design media for accuracy according to company policies, procedures, and client expectations
  • Meet assigned schedules and initiate corrective measures to overcome delays
  • Recommend equipment, concepts, and techniques to improve performance, simplify design, reduce costs, correct flaws, or comply with changing requirements, codes, and regulations
  • Complete assigned duties under the guidance of senior engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering field
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the nuclear industry preferred
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks
  • Ability to complete complex technical work with limited supervision
  • Higher-level knowledge and application of fundamental principles and concepts related to process and systems design
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines
  • Eligible to work under 10 CFR Part 810
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
