About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide project management for multidisciplinary bridge projects
  • Ensure communication with clients
  • Ensure that projects are carried out according to a high quality standard while respecting the schedule and budgets according to the requirements of the contract
  • Lead a design team for a variety of projects
  • Applying advanced engineering techniques and tools for solution of complex engineering challenges
  • Directing, coaching, supporting and guiding employees (engineers and technicians) assigned to projects
  • Advise management and collaborate with other disciplines
  • Preparation of proposals and participation in business development including publications and conferences
  • Preparing structural designs and evaluations, and contract packages for MTO and other key Clients, including current Ministry policies, procedures, standards, specifications, and manuals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in Civil Engineering (preferably with a Structural major)
  • Registered as Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with PEO
  • 15+ years of experience in engineering practice in analysis and design of various types of bridge and transportation structures; railway structures is an asset
  • Experience with reviewing condition survey reports and making recommendations for rehabilitation strategy
  • Experience with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Code
  • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team delivering projects with variety of complexity, type of bridge, size and scope
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation with 10 years in project management
  • Proficient in SAP 2000, CSI Bridge, MIDAS, Staad Pro, ETABS, Bentley ProjectWise and Microsoft Office applications
