About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identifies, evaluates, and captures new business opportunities and establishing relationships with potential DOE customers and partners
- Informs customers and partners of products and services that fit well with customer business needs
- Expand portfolio across the DOE marketplace, with a focus on growing/expanding the Atkins presence at the Oak Ridge campus which includes ORNL, Y-12, UCOR, and OREM
- Manage business development activities for DOE in support of the AtkinsRealis US Nuclear and capture new business in the TN/SC area for both DOE and Commercial Nuclear
- Identify new business opportunities through customer and industry contacts
- Report to the Sr Director of Business Development and assist with the growth strategy for assigned markets
- Build successful business relationships by delivering a value proposition that is attractive to both customers and prospective business partners
- Develop, maintain and build a strong professional network and customer relationships
- Coordinate company resources in the pursuit and capture of new work
- Develop capture plans for specific targets that address opportunities, preferred approaches, competitive analyses and business fundamentals
- Identify teaming partners, develop teaming agreements and obtain appropriate internal support and approvals
- Gather market and customer intelligence
- Participate in strategic planning with leadership team
- Responsible for the content of proposals developed
- Manage and support proposal activities in winning new contracts for the company
- Responsible for obtaining necessary approvals on all proposals prior to their submittal
- Handle proposal delivery to customers and interface with all customers on requests and issues
- Understand customer contracts and business planning activities in broad terms
- Engage corporate resources to ensure contract terms and conditions are appropriately handled
- Communicate and engage company technical experts and Operations personnel to develop solutions to customer challenges
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree required in business, engineering or a relevant scientific discipline
- Master’s degree preferred
- A minimum of 12 years of combined technical and business development experience with US government programs
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience of business development
- A minimum of 6-8 years of experience working with the Department of Energy Environmental Management/NNSA and/or Office of Science in a business development role
- Commercial Nuclear experience is desired
- Relationships with key leadership at Oak Ridge and/or Savannah River
- Relationships with large and small businesses in the DOE market
- Relationships with Commercial Nuclear business is desired
- Capture management and business development processes and tools
- Key account management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills are very important, both within the internal AtkinsRealis team and while interfacing with customers
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Advanced presentation skills
- Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
