About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and oversee multidisciplinary project teams in the design of tailings storage facilities, including advanced analyses (dynamic, FLAC, liquefaction)
  • Collaborate in the development and optimization of tailings containment designs
  • Prepare and review technical studies, geotechnical investigations, design drawings, and specifications related to tailings site selection and development
  • Conduct and contribute to technical reviews, including peer reviews, dam safety reviews, and inspections of tailings and mine waste facilities
  • Participate actively in project meetings, providing geotechnical expertise and guidance
  • Mentor and support the development of junior and intermediate engineers
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals and business development initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or Geological Engineering; postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent experience) is strongly preferred
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and/or other Canadian provinces
  • 15+ years of relevant experience leading multidisciplinary teams of large- and small-scale projects within Mining and Metals
  • Strong technical expertise in tailings dam design and analysis
  • Stress-strain modeling (e.g., FLAC or equivalent)
  • Dynamic and seismic analysis
  • Liquefaction assessment
  • Slope stability and seepage analysis
  • Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical, hydrology, hydrogeology, and environmental specialists.
