About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide technical design input into proposing and detailing design solutions for pavement renewal schemes
Lead engineering reviews with stakeholders
Ensure that pavement designs are based around safe and efficient construction processes
Coordinate with Design, Asset and PM teams
Undertake optioneering and feasibility assessments of pavement design solutions
Take a lead role in pavement investigations
Work closely with Project Managers to lead internal Gateway reviews
Check and review design deliverables to ensure compliance and completion

Requirements

What you’ll need

Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related highways discipline
Working towards or holding professional registration with a recognised engineering institution (e.g. ICE, IHE) at Incorporated or Chartered level
Working towards or holding Pavement Engineer Certificate from the Institute of Asphalt Technology
Working knowledge of relevant UK highway design standards, specification and guidance
Knowledge of CDM and other H&S legislation
Wide experience in pavement engineering, including leading the design, maintenance or renewal of highway pavements on major road networks or infrastructure assets
Ability to manage and coordinate design activities to meet agreed programme, budget and quality requirements
Hold a full UK driving licence (or ability to obtain one through a reciprocal agreement)
Hold appropriate CSCS card registration
