About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide code consulting services related to building code, fire code, and life safety compliance
Develop and support fire and life safety strategies
Prepare and review code reports, fire and life safety strategies, technical memoranda, and design narratives
Review drawings and specifications for compliance with applicable codes and standards
Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and project management teams to resolve code-related issues
Interface with clients, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and third-party reviewers
Support business development and represent the fire protection discipline internally and externally
For Senior-level candidates: provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes, technical tools, and best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or eligibility for licensure is an asset
5–10 years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering or code consulting
Strong working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), National Fire Code of Canada (NFCC), and applicable provincial codes
Knowledge of relevant fire protection standards, including UL/ULC, NFPA, and CSA
Knowledge of nuclear codes and standards is a definite asset, including CSA N293, N393, and related regulatory frameworks
Ability to communicate complex code concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Ability to support multi-disciplinary projects in regulated environments
Valid driver’s license.
