About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide code consulting services related to building code, fire code, and life safety compliance
  • Develop and support fire and life safety strategies
  • Prepare and review code reports, fire and life safety strategies, technical memoranda, and design narratives
  • Review drawings and specifications for compliance with applicable codes and standards
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and project management teams to resolve code-related issues
  • Interface with clients, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and third-party reviewers
  • Support business development and represent the fire protection discipline internally and externally
  • For Senior-level candidates: provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes, technical tools, and best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology, or a related discipline
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or eligibility for licensure is an asset
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering or code consulting
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), National Fire Code of Canada (NFCC), and applicable provincial codes
  • Knowledge of relevant fire protection standards, including UL/ULC, NFPA, and CSA
  • Knowledge of nuclear codes and standards is a definite asset, including CSA N293, N393, and related regulatory frameworks
  • Ability to communicate complex code concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to support multi-disciplinary projects in regulated environments
  • Valid driver’s license.
