Intermediate Civil/Structural Engineer

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification and assessment, structural design, and ageing management
- Prepare engineering design calculations for structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry
- Prepare design documents and compile engineering packages
- Analyze structural systems and elements as required using Analysis Software programs
- Ensure compliance with applicable Codes, Standards and Regulations
- Accountable for the delivery of all engineering deliverables/task to achieve project objectives within specified timelines and budgets
- Provide technical instructions to Junior staff or designers to develop engineering documentation
- Review and comment on the work performed by others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation
- Participate in formal engineering design and other reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question
- Perform plant walkdowns as and if required in support of design requirements definition and detailed engineering of design modifications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University
- Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings
- Master’s degree and above is an asset
- Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada
- Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
- 3 to 5 years of site or field experience in Nuclear Power Plants and/or industrial buildings is an asset
- Experience with static, dynamic and seismic analysis of structures and foundations
- Knowledge of modification process of Nuclear Power Plant; ECC process or similar is an asset
- Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures, knowledge of applicable nuclear safety codes and regulations is an asset
