About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and deliver design projects providing piping and process-plant solutions for energy infrastructure in the UK and internationally
  • Play a key role in the energy transition by supporting operation, maintenance and enhancement of existing energy assets
  • Conduct integrity assessments of existing equipment
  • Provide design substantiation for system modifications
  • Support client outage/turnaround activities
  • Contribute to low-carbon and future-energy projects
  • Produce clear, accurate and concise technical documentation (e.g., design calculations, substantiations, basis-of-analysis reports)
  • Work with clients—remotely or at their sites—to understand their issues, goals and processes
  • Contribute to analyses of piping systems, pressure vessels or associated mechanical equipment
  • Support senior engineers in delivering engineering solutions across conceptual, FEED, detailed design and operational support scopes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer (or relevant equivalent)
  • Good experience in mechanical, plant, utilities or energy-sector roles
  • Ability to apply sound engineering judgement and fundamental mechanical principles
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in technical reporting
  • Experience in piping and/or pressure-vessel design and stress analysis
  • Understanding of design codes such as ASME/BPVC Section VIII, BS EN 13445, PD 5500, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3 or BS EN 13480
  • Awareness of UK legislation relating to pressure systems
  • Experience in pressure-equipment design, fabrication, operation, maintenance or asset life-management
  • Experience or interest in fitness-for-service assessments including API 579 or BS 7910
  • Progress toward chartership with a relevant professional institute
  • Experience in the energy or utilities sectors, particularly in plant operations, maintenance or reliability
