About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the delivery of rail and transit advisory projects
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards
- Identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and internal stakeholders
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to project teams
- Provide expert advice to clients across project feasibility, rail policy, commercial strategy, demand, revenue and cost forecasting, economic analysis and business case preparation
- Oversee the preparation of project documentation, including business cases, project plans, and progress reports
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and methodologies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven track record in delivering transport advisory projects and schemes on time and to budget
- Strong understanding of the UK transport sector, with a particular focus on the role of DfT, Network Rail and all national and sub national transport bodies in the UK rail industry
- Good awareness of the changes underway to transition to GBR
- A network of client relationships that you can draw on to develop new business opportunities
- Experience in project leadership and team / line management, including development and mentoring of junior staff
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills
- Strong technical experience in the application of industry standard principles and guidance across a range of technical disciplines including demand forecasting (Passenger Demand Forecasting Handbook), economic appraisal (Department for Transport TAG and HMT Green Book) and spreadsheet modelling best practice
- Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Relevant degree and professional qualification in transport, engineering, project management, or a related field
