About the role

  • Organisation, collation and assessment of desk-based information as part of Phase 1 Contaminated Land Desk Studies
  • Assisting on Phase 2 site investigations, including organising, supervising and undertaking environmental / geo-environmental site investigation and monitoring scopes
  • Regular site-based work such as contractor supervision, soil sampling and logging, environmental monitoring/sampling and supporting others on site in these roles too
  • Compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, including assisting in the preparation of H&S Plans for site investigation and managing health and safety on site
  • Contributing to the delivery of factual and interpretative reporting, may include digital data management, development of conceptual site models, qualitative and quantitative risk assessments for human health and the water environment, hydrogeological modelling and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
  • Support with remediation design, implementation and verification
  • Developing own competence and maintain CPD necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, with support from the business on own training and development needs
  • Management of own work including supporting project managers to ensure projects are delivered on-time, on budget and to quality and client expectations

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geography, hydrogeology, chemistry, earth sciences, environmental science)
  • Membership of relevant professional body
  • An understanding of land contamination/brownfield land issues including relevant codes of practice and industry standards
  • Good organisational skills and an appetite for undertaking outdoor work in all weathers (alongside a variety of desk-based tasks)
  • Keen team player keen to learn and make a difference
  • Willingness to travel and undertake site-based work across the UK
  • Relevant post-graduate experience (ideally within a consultancy environment), with a track record in delivering work on-time, on budget and to quality and client expectations
  • Experience in delivering site-based work on active gas and electricity infrastructure distribution/transmission sites
  • Additional specialist skills in hydrogeological modelling, EIA, environmental permitting, waste and materials management are particularly welcomed
  • Experience in working with geospatial data (GIS) using software such as QGIS and/or ArcGIS
