About the role
- Serves as the recognized expert on mechanical engineering design for nuclear facilities
- Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues
- Recommends engineering process and service improvements
- Identifies innovative solutions to solve unique and complex problems
- Works independently with guidance in the most challenging situations
- Leads functional teams for projects, and may lead project teams
- Provides oversight and supervision of the technical work of senior professionals
- Communicates complex ideas and persuades others to adopt a different point of view
- Participates in technical and professional organizations at a prominent leadership level
- Assists management in conducting project review audits
Requirements
- Requires Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 15 years of experience preferred; typical incumbent has 20-25 years of experience
- Professional Engineering (PE) License required, with ability to be licensed in multiple jurisdictions
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to foster and achieve goal alignment among participants with differing interests
- Expert knowledge of key design codes and standards for commercial nuclear facilities required
- Participation in appropriate national consensus standard/code committees preferred
- Expert knowledge in the use of mechanical design software codes, such as ANSYS, Fluent, and AutoPipe
- Senior design professional on Commercial and Department of Energy nuclear reactor projects preferred
- Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered
