About the role
- Consult with clients to understand their requirements
- Conduct feasibility studies to vet proposed projects
- Calculate quantities installed validation and costs for materials, labor, timeframes
- Prepare tender packages and contracts, including bills of quantities
- Work with procurement and manage the RFP process thru the pre-bid qualification process, selection of bidders, RFP returns, bid levelling and negotiation
- Prepare bid tab and recommendation to award (RTA)
- Work with client contract managers and procurement specialists to resolve contractual matters
- Support project managers with contract budgeting
- Ensure all documentation is complete and accessible in company repository
- Monitor scope creep and scope changes
- Coordinate with program/project managers to ensure contract requirements are fulfilled
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant contractual procedures and practices
- Work closely with project controls and finance teams to ensure CAPEX procurement aligns with cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting
- Manage risk, value engineering and cost control measures
- Analyze repair/maintenance costs
- Negotiate contracts and schedules
- Oversee and value subcontractors' work for payments
- Ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards
- Continually assess value for the client's investment
- Analyze outcomes and provide budget/progress reports
- Advise on claims, disputes and any contractual issues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Quantity Surveying or a related field
- 5 - 10 years relevant experience
- Professional accreditation such as MRICS or equivalent
- Experience with construction and project management software
- Advanced knowledge of construction law and regulations
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in procurement and contract negotiation
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Strong network within the construction industry
- Thorough understanding of construction industry regulations, standards, and best practices
- Must be self-motived and highly articulate
- Excellent communication and presentation skills necessary to interface with external engineering, architectural and construction firms, suppliers, management team and other organizations within client organizations.
