About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide onsite and remote Tier 2 support for user IT issues
  • Support 24x7 LANs, associated applications, peripherals, connectivity, and end-users in a Service Desk-supported Tier II environment
  • Install, configure, and maintain network communication devices, servers, network storage arrays, and tape backup units
  • Support network-attached devices including computers, printers, fax machines, biometric devices, electrocardiograms, x-ray machines, smart displays, and sensors
  • Support mobile and wireless devices including smartphones, tablets, and hotspots
  • Test, apply, and maintain server configurations and security patches
  • Maintain and check system and backup health, including restore testing
  • Monitor ITSM (ServiceNow) assignment groups and troubleshoot tickets
  • Update tickets using documentation templates and guidelines
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports
  • Provide inventory support and update the customer inventory system
  • Install and maintain video teleconferencing infrastructure and assist with user requests
  • Participate in weekly after-hours on-call rotations and support special projects or events
  • Conduct new equipment deployments and provide deployment support
  • Provide cabling support in data centers, LAN rooms, and remote wiring closets
  • Analyze functional business requirements and design specifications
  • Contribute to technical discussions and develop/present briefing materials
  • Identify and fix problems in existing systems, implement and enhance systems, and participate in analysis, design, and construction of next-generation IT systems
  • Translate customer needs and commercially available IT products into requirements for architecture and engineering teams and COTS products
  • Report to an Area Technical Lead while working independently and/or under immediate supervision

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required Clearance: Public Trust
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass the DHS Employment Eligibility Verification process
  • Associate Degree or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years’ of IT-related support experience, preferably in a helpdesk or customer support role
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve desktop, network, or other IT issues
  • General knowledge network products and systems
  • Experience in a rapid paced, time sensitive, high-quality environment
  • Must have excellent team skills and collaboration skills
  • Attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must pass Motor Vehicle Records check; position classified as a “Regular Driver”
  • Must maintain state of travel readiness for local and/or overnight travel to Government locations
  • Must be comfortable working in a Law Enforcement environment, including detention facilities, prisons, or jails
  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment and adhere to social distancing requirements
  • Ability to access computer and related equipment connections and transport objects or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Desired: Prior technical enterprise support experience within a large, complex organization
  • Desired: Experience with system performance evaluation, hardware repairs, server/backups setup and administration, technology assignments/projects, and multiple project assignments
  • Desired certifications: ITIL v4, MCSE, A+, Security+, Network+, or other relevant certifications
  • Outstanding communication skills in formal and informal formats with customers, stakeholders, and technical specialists
