About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Work independently in the field placing buried service wire
Coordinate work activities with customers, local utilities, and government agencies
Provide installation, repairs, maintenance as well as reconnection of fiber and copper services
Locate buried facilities near the route of "B" service wire using appropriate equipment
Operate a company vehicle with trailer and machinery
Manual excavation utilizing a shovel
Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities or sprinkler systems
Provides temporary repairs to utilities and sewage field lines
Periodic maintenance and non-complex repairs to equipment used in the performance of other responsibilities
Read and interpret simple instructions
Follow established safety practices and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need

Desire to work Monday through Friday with a shift length of 8hrs
Ability to work mandatory overtime and holidays as service conditions require
Eager to work outside in all kinds of weather conditions
Able to utilize various types of machines and tools
Lift and move objects up to 120 pounds
Use computers including hand-held devices to update work status and check new assignments
Light commercial driver’s license or equivalent required
Attain and maintain a DOT medical card
Complete on-the-job and/or classroom training as required
Demonstrate competency in training requirements during probationary period to satisfy qualification achievement
Previous operating experience with similar equipment is desirable
Perform duties with or without "reasonable accommodation".
May be required to go out of region/state due to workload and emergency work
