About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, implement, and optimize WAN solutions to ensure reliable and efficient connectivity across multiple locations.
Configure and manage WAN devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware.
Continuously monitor WAN performance, identify issues, and perform advanced troubleshooting to resolve network problems promptly.
Implement and maintain network security measures to protect data transmitted across the WAN.
Analyze network traffic and optimize WAN performance to ensure high availability and minimal latency.
Maintain detailed documentation of the WAN infrastructure, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
Generate regular reports on network performance and health.
Work closely with other IT teams, including LAN administrators, server administrators, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration and operation of the network.
Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to keep the WAN infrastructure up-to-date and secure.
Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for network services, equipment, and support.
Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure network resiliency and business continuity in case of network failures or emergencies.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Several years of experience in network administration, with a focus on WAN technologies and infrastructure.
Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or similar credentials.
Proficiency in configuring and managing WAN technologies, including MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and SD-WAN solutions.
Strong understanding of networking protocols and standards.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external vendors.
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is often preferred.
Candidate must have a Security + Certification and must be able to attain an ITIL 4 Certification within 4 months of Start Date.
