About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design datacenter collocations and infrastructure hardware
  • Create drawings for datacenter POPs and develop Scopes of Work for new POP builds
  • Create detailed installation MOPs for optical transport and switching equipment, overheads, and AC/DC power
  • Deploy, configure, and support large-scale production and corporate network and server infrastructure in data centers and POP sites
  • Calculate and document equipment power requirements and coordinate with Engineering, Facilities Operations, and collocation vendors
  • Manage project timelines for network turn-up
  • Manage networking equipment assets in datacenter and POP sites
  • Contribute to documentation, automation, and evolving processes
  • Create rack elevations, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and detailed port maps
  • Create vendor statements of work for POP sites
  • Create cage and rack designs and assess POP infrastructure needs
  • Document and follow RMA processes for relevant vendors
  • Assist with data center and POP best practices
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering, Logistics, and equipment vendors during equipment and technology integration
  • Provide technical support for Network Engineers and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S/B.A) from a four-year college or university and 5 to 8 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Network with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise
  • Demonstrated good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Understanding of data center practices, including cable routing, power usage, and cooling calculations
  • Familiarity with creating As-Built drawings for datacenter POPs and creating the 3rd module on DC-CAD
  • Knowledge of building and creating SOWs for new POP builds
  • Understanding of field-based work in POPs, carrier hotels, or Central Office environments
  • Understanding of fiber-optic technology, including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and optical transport technologies
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with carriers and vendors
  • Understanding of working with service providers and colocation facilities
  • Ability to work within a global team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited supervision
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform office-related tasks, including prolonged sitting or standing
  • Ability to move within an office environment
  • Ability to use a computer and communicate effectively
  • Some positions may require occasional repetitive motion or movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
