About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the local medical voice of AstraZeneca in thoracic cancer and build a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes
  • Provide medical and scientific support for oncology marketed products, new indications, and compounds in development
  • Establish trusted scientific-advisor relationships with internal collaborators and external healthcare professionals
  • Synthesize healthcare-professional insights across multiple segments and communicate them internally
  • Integrate scientific knowledge into business strategies, training, and resources
  • Synthesize research and summarize findings for various healthcare-professional segments
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Development teams
  • Drive guideline sharing and apply guidelines to Field Medical Affairs work processes
  • Lead clinical trials, research activities, and special projects
  • Coach team members in developing external working relationships across academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices
  • Support team members’ creative and innovative ideas
  • Provide input on MSL training content and assist with MSL onboarding
  • Serve as a buddy to new MSL hires
  • Lead MSLs in congress scientific coverage and data-synthesis support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced scientific degree required: PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA, or NP in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • 2 years of MSL experience or related therapeutic experience
  • Demonstrated expertise delivering customer-related outcomes in the targeted field/territory
  • Demonstrated ability to influence Medical Affairs and MSL strategies regionally
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for communicating scientific data to internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently and in groups
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent project-management ability
  • Ability to travel 40–60% domestically by car and plane
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline
