About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Achieve or exceed sales objectives in the assigned territory
- Create and maintain targeted, account-specific business plans
- Develop clinical, technical, and scientific knowledge across assigned indications
- Educate healthcare providers on disease states, diagnosis, testing, and treatment
- Build relationships with nephrologists and stakeholders across academic centers, hospitals, clinics, infusion centers, and related sites of care
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional stakeholders and enterprise partners
- Handle customer questions and objections compliantly and triage inquiries appropriately
- Demonstrate proper product use to clinicians in hospital, clinic, and infusion-center environments
- Lead a patient-centric partnership model involving physicians, staff, patients, clinics, hospitals, and care partners
- Use CRM and AI-embedded tools to manage territory priorities, track engagement, document activities, prioritize opportunities, and optimize calls
- Use AI-driven insights for territory planning, HCP targeting, pre-call strategy, and account action plans
- Execute local promotional activities and programs
- Provide product expertise and customer service to accounts
- Interact with management to refine product and market initiatives based on field insights, access trends, and account needs
- Perform work in alignment with Alexion’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and company policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 years pharmaceutical sales or equivalent experience, such as biotech or medical device, or 5 years of experience in a medical setting
- Proven, documented record of consistent, top-tier sales results in institutions, hospital systems, and/or complex specialty markets
- Ability to work independently and interdependently in a team-oriented environment
- Strong clinical acumen, account-based selling, analytical, and strategic skills
- Ability to qualify leads, profile new accounts, and build durable healthcare-provider relationships
- Ability to gain access and develop professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providers
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities
- Must live in the geographic territory or within 50 miles of its border
- Ability to travel regularly within the territory, including possible frequent overnight and weekend travel
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane; work in clinical settings; use a computer; communicate by phone, video, and electronic messaging; solve problems; perform complex analysis and dialogue; collaborate; and maintain availability during standard business hours
- Preferred: advanced or master’s degree
- Preferred: 5 years of specialty, rare-disease, nephrology, or related-market pharmaceutical sales
- Preferred: orphan or ultra-orphan sales experience
- Preferred: bio/pharma, nephrology, renal disease, and/or hematology experience
