About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maximize revenue by driving sales activity and leading a Neurology Regional Account Manager field force of 7–8 Specialists
  • Oversee implementation of Alexion sales, marketing, disease, diagnostic, and branded education awareness programs
  • Drive sales performance, ensure forecasts are met or exceeded, and coach Regional Account Managers
  • Customize customer discussions and healthcare professional interactions in a compliant and ethical manner
  • Monitor local markets, practice structures, business models, and key influencers, and share insights with Alexion stakeholders
  • Provide input on regional resource allocation and lead the selection of appropriate customer programs and resources
  • Use analytical tools to evaluate the business and guide team leadership, coaching, and resource deployment
  • Develop local business plans and implement strategic plans to achieve sales objectives
  • Attract, retain, and develop a high-performing team
  • Conduct field visits and business reviews, providing written and verbal feedback
  • Build relationships with physicians and key thought leaders
  • Develop new accounts and expand existing accounts
  • Ensure delivery of clinical acumen, business acumen, and customer service
  • Coordinate communication and execution among internal stakeholders
  • Develop, lead, and facilitate team POA meetings
  • Provide input to the Neurology therapeutic area regarding US brand strategy
  • Conduct business reviews with the VP/Business Unit Lead to support corporate sales objectives and employee development plans
  • Model integrity and compliance with laws, internal policies, and the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in life science and/or business/marketing or related field
  • Proven track record of employee development and performance management
  • Minimum of 10 years Pharmaceutical or Equivalent Experience, such as Biotech or Medical Device
  • Extensive experience leading Manager-level staff and above and delivering results preferred
  • Experience in specialty sales with Neurologists, Neuro-Immunologists, and/or orphan drug sales and launch experience preferred
  • Demonstrated successful experience significantly expanding existing sales teams
  • Broad cross-functional experience in commercial roles such as Marketing, Sales Operations, Medical, National/Corporate Accounts, Managed Markets, or Hospital Markets
  • Experience launching a biopharmaceutical preferred
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must live within close proximity to the region
  • Ability to travel regularly within the region, including frequent overnight and weekend travel
  • Ability to travel by public transportation, automobile, train, or plane
  • Ability to work comfortably in a clinical setting
  • Ability to use a computer and communicate via phone, video, and electronic messaging
  • Ability to problem solve and engage in complex and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue
  • Ability to collaborate with others and maintain general availability during standard business hours
  • Advanced or Master's degree ideal
  • Bio/pharma, Neurology and/or Ophthalmology experience preferred
  • Rare Disease, Buy and Bill, and Hospital experience preferred
