Salary
💰 $230,000 - $250,000 per year
About the role
- Lead a hands-on Fraud Engineering team building and scaling a customer-facing fraud product that helps our clients detect, prevent, and respond to fraud in their own workflows.
- Own net-new development across the fraud product, including detection logic, decisioning workflows, rules and signals, APIs, and tools that enable configuration, monitoring, and iteration.
- Partner closely with Product, Design, and Client Engagement teams to turn customer pain points and real-world fraud scenarios into usable, scalable product capabilities.
- Set the technical direction for the fraud product, making architectural decisions that balance configurability, performance, accuracy, explainability, and long-term scalability.
- Stay close to the code, especially early on, reviewing PRs, unblocking complex problems, and contributing directly when speed or clarity matters.
- Scale the team and product together, helping define engineering standards, development processes, and hiring needs as the fraud product continues to grow.
- Anticipate how customer needs and fraud patterns evolve, ensuring the product remains flexible, extensible, and competitive over time.
- Foster strong product ownership, where engineers understand how clients use the fraud product, the tradeoffs involved, and the business impact of what they ship.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading teams, ideally in systems where correctness, reliability, and speed matter.
- Proven experience in high-growth or early-stage environments, with comfort operating amid ambiguity and building structure where none exists.
- A bias toward action and building—you’re comfortable being hands-on, especially while the team and systems are still forming.
- Strong systems thinking, with the ability to design solutions that evolve as fraud tactics change.
- Clear, pragmatic communicator who can align engineers, product partners, and non-technical stakeholders around priorities and tradeoffs.
- Demonstrated ability to grow engineers, from early-career to senior, through mentorship, feedback, and real ownership.
- Ability to translate fraud signals and business risk into technical roadmaps, execution plans, and measurable outcomes.
- Experience with or interest in fraud, risk, abuse prevention, or adversarial systems.
- Familiarity with our stack: Node.js (TypeScript), React (TypeScript), GraphQL, Python, Docker, PostgreSQL, AWS
