Key responsibilities & impact

Understand and articulate the difference between Agile and Scrum
Provide the team with resources, information, communication, and practical advice to enable regular delivery of working product
Facilitate daily scrums, release and sprint planning, sprint reviews, and sprint retrospectives
Ensure participants understand ceremony purposes and keep to time-boxes
Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress
Foster conversations and collaboration inside and outside the team to support self-organization
Identify and remove impediments and prevent distractions from sprint-goal delivery
Understand and articulate strategic and product planning, goals, and progress
Support the Product Owner with backlog refinement, prioritization, and user-story elaboration
Assist the team with commitments through story selection and task definition
Help the team create clear Product Backlog items using user-story slicing and acceptance criteria
Proactively manage dependencies
Update agile tracking systems for transparency on Product and Sprint Backlogs
Recommend improvements and assist with best-practice changes
Participate in Assurant's internal and external agile communities
Enforce Agile values and principles through continuous learning and feedback loops

Requirements

What you’ll need

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) Industry certification Required
5-7 years of experience as a Scrum Master for software development teams
Agile experience within a multi-team organization
Experience working with distributed, virtual teams
Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills
Advanced understanding of Agile practices such as retrospectives, daily standups, sprint planning, burn down techniques
Experience with agile team tools such as ADO, Jira, VersionOne or TFS
Ability to collaborate and exercise influence without authority
