About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage ANZ accounting, financial reporting and audit matters under local GAAP and US GAAP
  • Maintain strong internal controls across in-scope entities and businesses
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and ensure policy compliance
  • Evaluate contracts and draft or review accounting memos for ANZ accounting issues
  • Ensure accurate, timely and high-quality internal, external, statutory and regulatory reporting for Australia and New Zealand, including APRA and RBNZ reporting
  • Own the ANZ financial statement close process and coordinate country accounting teams
  • Review quarterly P&L and balance sheet variance analysis and support consolidated financial statements
  • Partner with the APAC Controller and local Finance leadership on business drivers and reporting
  • Manage ANZ internal and external audits, track issues and complete remediation actions
  • Manage, coach and develop ANZ accounting teams
  • Assess team structure and capability needs and attract and retain talent
  • Support global accounting initiatives and special projects
  • Review processes and procedures to identify improvements and efficiencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience in Controllership and/or Accounting/Finance leadership roles
  • Commercial accounting experience
  • Strong audit management experience
  • Experience managing large and diversified teams across different geographies
  • Experience in financial services and/or insurance across Australia and New Zealand preferred
  • IFRS 17 knowledge preferred
  • Bachelor of Commerce or Business, majoring in Accounting
  • CPA or CA qualification
  • Strong local GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS knowledge
  • Strong APRA and RBNZ reporting skills
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop high-performing finance teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office capability; advanced Excel preferred
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • Exceptional numerical, analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Strong attention to detail
