About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including insurance carrier agreements and client agreements
  • Advise internal business teams on contractual obligations, risk management, and compliance related to commercial transactions
  • Lead B2B negotiations to ensure favorable terms while maintaining strong business relationships
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, compliance, risk management, procurement, finance, and operations to support business objectives
  • Provide legal support for contract lifecycle management, including amendments, renewals, and dispute resolution
  • Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices impacting commercial transactions
  • Embed within the business to understand the objectives of the business unit(s) and the key elements driving profitability
  • Identify potential legal risks and/or impacts to existing businesses, new ventures, and products, as appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active law license in good standing
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department providing counsel on business and contractual matters—ideally within the insurance or technology industry
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for complex commercial agreements
  • Highly autonomous and self‑motivated, with sound judgment and the ability to manage multiple priorities with urgency
  • Ability to understand business strategy and basic financial considerations
  • Strong knowledge of B2B agreements, risk assessment, and operational impacts
  • Ability to quickly evaluate complex legal/regulatory issues and recommend sound courses of action
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at all organizational levels
