About the role
- Execute and help maintain the manual test suite, including updates as features change.
- Assist with test plans and test cases for web applications and APIs.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and cross browser testing.
- Create and maintain Playwright end to end and API tests in TypeScript, following team patterns and guidance.
- Build and maintain reliable test data, test accounts, and repeatable test setup steps.
- Log, track, verify, and retest defects in JIRA with clear reproduction steps and expected results.
- Support basic non-functional checks when applicable, such as performance smoke checks.
- Collaborate with product and engineering to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Help investigate and reproduce production issues with support and engineering.
- Participate in code and test reviews with a focus on quality and testability.
- Share test results, risks, and notes in tools such as Confluence.
- Support improvements to QA processes, test environments, and release readiness checklists.
- Take direction from senior QA while owning assigned test areas end to end.
- Suggest opportunities to reduce repetitive testing through automation.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies as needed, including refinement, planning, and defect triage.
- Continuously improve testing skills, tooling knowledge, and product understanding.
Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 1 to 5 years of experience in software QA, including internships, co ops, or significant project experience, or equivalent experience in software development with a strong interest in quality control and testing.
- Experience testing web applications. API testing exposure is an asset.
- Exposure to test automation or scripting is an asset.
- Experience with defect tracking tools such as JIRA and documentation tools such as Confluence is an asset.
- Experience in software development using TypeScript and/or JavaScript (professional, internship, or significant project experience).
- Interest in test automation. Playwright experience is an asset, or a strong willingness to learn it quickly.
- Basic understanding of web technologies such as HTTP, REST, and JSON.
- Familiarity with automated testing concepts such as unit, integration, and end to end testing.
- Understanding of cross browser testing concepts and common UI debugging techniques.
- Ability to follow established test architecture, coding standards, and contribute reusable test utilities over time.
- Nice to have familiarity with AI development tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, Claude, or similar.
- Nice to have awareness of accessibility concepts and basic WCAG principles.
- Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving.
- Clear written and verbal communication in English.
- Coachable and comfortable asking questions early.
- Able to manage time, follow through on assigned work, and collaborate in a remote team.
- Comfortable working across time zones with a focus on predictable delivery.
