About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and evolve Ashby’s global compensation infrastructure, including compensation bands, leveling alignment, market positioning, review cadences, benchmarking methodology, and guidance for offers, promotions, refreshers, and market adjustments
- Create principled, practical, and scalable compensation frameworks and governance
- Leverage market data, internal data, and external trends to monitor market movement and inform compensation decisions
- Own Ashby’s Total Rewards strategy across compensation, equity, benefits, and perks globally
- Evaluate programs and recommend improvements balancing market competitiveness, internal equity, business needs, and sustainability
- Lead global benefits strategy, selection, evaluation, vendor and broker management, renewals, plan design review, and administration
- Operationalize and administer equity programs in partnership with Finance and company leadership
- Improve Total Rewards systems, workflows, documentation, and operational processes using tools such as CandorIQ, Pave, and OpenComp
- Use automation, AI, and operational design to improve efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience
- Serve as the Total Rewards subject matter expert and partner with Finance, Talent Acquisition, People Business Partners, and functional leaders
- Establish documentation, operating rhythms, standards, and decision-making frameworks to prepare the function to scale
- Begin as an individual contributor and evolve into people management as the function grows
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of progressive Total Rewards experience, including meaningful ownership of compensation, benefits, and equity programs in high-growth organizations
- Deep compensation expertise and experience building compensation programs and infrastructure from the ground up
- Understanding of centralized principles with function-specific adaptations
- Ability to navigate ambiguity using data, judgment, and business context
- Experience building and scaling compensation frameworks and benefits programs for globally distributed organizations
- Ability to support leaders with different needs while maintaining trust, consistency, and decision quality
- Strong strategy and execution skills, with comfort being the primary day-to-day owner
- Exceptional communication skills for explaining complex Total Rewards topics
- Detail-oriented and operationally strong, with focus on improving systems, processes, and program quality
- Experience leading or managing others, or willingness to help build and scale a future Total Rewards team
- Bonus: experience with global programs across regions and employment models
- Bonus: experience using automation, AI, and technology in Total Rewards operations
- Bonus: experience with CandorIQ, Pave, or OpenComp
- Bonus: advanced degree in HR, business, finance, or organizational development
- Bonus: HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, CCP, or CEBS
