About the role

  • Manage a remote team of 20 engineers and 2 EMs.
  • Scale the team to 40 engineers and 5-6 EMs.
  • Work closely with the Co-Founder and VP of Engineering.
  • Lead the definition and evolution of the culture and processes of the Engineering department.
  • Build an environment that encourages engineers to be their best.
  • Drive and support minimal processes with ownership over decisions normally made by product and design.
  • Collaborate across time zones for teams with focus time and efficient meetings.

Requirements

  • You’ve built impressive products as an IC.
  • You’ve built a bench of amazing Engineers.
  • You’ve established the cultural norms and processes of an entire Engineering department.
  • Managing other leaders is required.
  • Enjoy coding and staying up-to-date on technology.
  • Would have been Principal engineers (or were one!).
  • Experience managing teams with ownership and autonomy.
  • Belief in building teams that operate differently from the status quo.
  • Optimistic about growing a large engineering team.
