Regulatory Advisor – Food & Non-Food
Ashbury CollegeRegulatory Advisor ensuring compliance of product information with legislation for food and non-food sectors. Providing risk-based advice and supporting product launches in a fully remote position.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review product information across a range of categories, ensuring compliance with legislation, customer policies and industry guidance.
- Provide clear, risk-based advice that enables clients to launch products safely, competitively and efficiently.
- Use your regulatory knowledge to question, challenge and guide clients, suppliers and colleagues, ensuring due diligence is met and decisions are compliant with the law.
- Accountable for delivering accurate, timely and high-quality advice that supports confident, compliant product launches.
- Carry out product information services, such as formulation, regulatory adaptations, specification/pack copy review, artwork review, alignment, and branded product reviews for compliance, as required.
- Provide regulatory advice to Ashbury and its clients, to ensure products are legally compliant.
- Research and horizon scanning for changes and developments, which effect the regulatory landscape in which Ashbury and our clients operate.
- Review and advise changes to Ashbury clients’ policies, considering new regulations, guidance, and codes of practice.
- Client customer compliant management, writing responses and managing escalated and/or serious complaints.
- Providing risk-based recommendations to complaints/enforcement challenges for Ashbury clients.
- Leading/supporting a client through a product recall/withdrawal process, producing information to support this process where required.
- Liaise with central & local government agencies and industry bodies, i.e., OPSS, FSA/FSAI, Primary Authorities, laboratories, BRC, BSI and ASA etc.
- Delivering training on regulatory & technical topics to Ashbury and its clients.
- Developing relationships with client Technical/Regulatory decision makers, influencing, discussing and debating regulatory matters.
- Attend client meetings to discuss Regulatory affairs.
- Producing expert opinion content on subject matters, as required for marketing and training purposes.
- Presenting expert opinion on subject matters internally and externally.
- Keeping up to date with legal requirements and labelling policies and ensuring the dissemination of information within the business.
- Maintaining and growing your expertise in one or more subject areas.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 3 years of experience of working in a regulatory role within industry or trading standards/enforcement or in a related field
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Demonstrable experience of independent working, managing your own workload and time management
- Demonstrable risk-based decision making
- Confident to apply requirements to product information and communicating decisions to clients.
- Deep regulatory expertise in one area (either food or non-food) and strong working knowledge in the other with the capability and appetite to grow
- Experience applying legislation, customer policies and codes of practice to real product information.
- Excellent oral, written communication skills, including IT and presentation skills
- Able to explain complex requirements in a simple way
- Able to risk assess a situation, providing a risk appropriate solution which resolves the issue.
- Ability to research and gather information using available resources
- Welcomes guidance and understands the commercial environment
