About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own month-end close activities related to expenses, including the preparation and review of expense-related journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications, and serve as the primary expense contact
  • Support other aspects of the FuturePlan monthly close, including ancillary revenue accruals, while ensuring compliance with internal control requirements
  • Prepare journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, conduct account fluctuation analyses, and investigate variances
  • Prepare and analyze monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheet reporting
  • Support external audit activities, including the preparation of supporting schedules and response to audit inquiries, as needed
  • Develop and maintain clear and complete narrative documentation for accounting processes, procedures, and controls
  • Ensure accurate revenue and expense recognition in accordance with U.S. GAAP; research technical accounting guidance and draft accounting memos as required
  • Lead and contribute to special projects in support of management and broader finance initiatives
  • Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to track, analyze, and explain revenues and expenses
  • Proactively identify accounting issues and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of financial reporting
  • Support the professional development of members of the accounting team including co-ops and interns

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • Industry accounting experience or a mix of public accounting and industry accounting experience
  • 2-4 years of accounting experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required
  • Ability to work effectively within tight timeframes and meet deadlines
  • Highly analytical and detail oriented with an aptitude for problem solving
  • Ability to work independently; strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to streamline and improve accounting processes
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives
