Field Applications Engineer

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Promote the latest electronics technologies into customer designs to maximize Arrow’s electronics component content into projects that benefit our customers and will create new business for Arrow
- Understand customer needs and leverage Arrow’s engineering resources to facilitate solutions that bring value to customers
- Partner with the sales team across pre-and post-sales activities, providing technical support and consulting to promote demand creation
- Technical collaboration & research with sales, other Arrow departments & Suppliers in support of customer designs
- Champion return on engineering investment, design support priorities, initiatives, and promotions
- Manage supplier and customer expectations by building and developing relationships
- Attend and actively participate in strategic branch meetings and quarterly reviews
- Develop and drive strategic technical plans by supplier line or customer solutions
- Participate in Arrow initiatives through branch training and customer calls
- Organize engineering customer events
- Confidence and ability to independently organize & present technical workshops with labs to audiences
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Electronic Engineering or relevant discipline
- Experience and the ability to understand and self-train in all aspects of Electronics, particularly Microcontrollers, FPGAs, Analogue and Power Management
- Understanding in Embedded Modules, Connectors & Passives
- Good to have experience with FPGAs and at least 8-bit embedded micro-controller hardware development, debugging & tools
- Previous experience in the electronics industry will be highly regarded and is desirable
- Strong technical background and at least 2-4 years of electronics design experience
- Regular travel within New Zealand
- Willingness to travel at times across ANZ for customer meetings or supplier training sessions
- Supplier training may also at times be international
- Ability to build and maintain good relationships/network with established customers
- Ability to self-discover & then engage to develop new customers from ideas/leads
- Ability & willingness to work from home when not visiting customers
