About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage and develop direct reports, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to ensure professional growth and development.
- Implement short-term strategies to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Review Corporate, Partnership, Trust, and Individual tax returns for entertainment industry professionals, athletes, high net worth, and family office clients, and all their related entities.
- Conduct online tax research and provide solutions to complex tax issues.
- Oversee accounting work necessary for tax returns.
- Develop and nurture long-term relationships with clients, serving as their trusted advisor.
- Champion the implementation of innovative solutions to meet client needs.
- Review and confirm assignment objectives, scope, and work plan with clients.
- Identify assignment resource requirements and ensure the appropriate resources are assigned to specific roles.
- Anticipate, identify, and resolve complex assignment issues.
- Seek regular client assessment of assignment progress and overall feedback on performance.
- Manage groups to ensure profitability in the short and long term.
- Support the partner team in identifying and promoting the development of new delivery capabilities and/or channels to satisfy evolving market requirements.
- Assist in the development and planning of practice unit strategy, objectives, and budgets.
- Identify and develop new initiatives to increase retention, meet resourcing needs, utilization, and people development.
- Share and transfer knowledge and skills to the team.
- Engage in ongoing personal development in line with the competency model.
- Work and support tax teams in the Dallas, Irvine, Los Angeles, and New York City areas.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or a related field.
- Active CPA or EA license required.
- Minimum of 5 years of U.S. tax consulting and compliance experience in public accounting.
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership role with responsibility for managing teams and reviewing work.
- Extensive experience with a variety of entity types, including partnerships, S-corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Proven ability to manage multiple engagements, oversee project timelines, and ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
- Strong client service skills, including experience serving as a primary point of contact and managing client relationships.
- Advanced technical knowledge with the ability to review complex tax returns and provide guidance on tax planning and compliance matters.
- Technical proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, UltraTax).
