About the role
- Evaluate Arizona courts accounting and cash handling practices
- Ensure conformity to Minimum Accounting Standards (MAS)
- Complete on-site reviews including collecting data, interviewing staff, and reconciling financial records
- Draft reports summarizing deficiencies and recommending improvements
- Work with courts to ensure correct financial controls
- Provide on-site operational assistance and training for courts with identified financial issues
- Monitor state treasurer reports and evaluate monthly deposits of assessments
- Assist in resolving problems with courts and treasurers
- Provide assistance to IT and court staff on financial questions
- Develop and provide training on financial management practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or public administration or related degree
- Minimum of five years experience performing accounting, financial management, or case management duties
- Knowledge of financial management practices and accounting principles
- Experience collecting and analyzing data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload, manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Preferred: knowledge of court practices, court financial systems, and/or information systems
