About the role

  • Evaluate Arizona courts accounting and cash handling practices
  • Ensure conformity to Minimum Accounting Standards (MAS)
  • Complete on-site reviews including collecting data, interviewing staff, and reconciling financial records
  • Draft reports summarizing deficiencies and recommending improvements
  • Work with courts to ensure correct financial controls
  • Provide on-site operational assistance and training for courts with identified financial issues
  • Monitor state treasurer reports and evaluate monthly deposits of assessments
  • Assist in resolving problems with courts and treasurers
  • Provide assistance to IT and court staff on financial questions
  • Develop and provide training on financial management practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration or related degree
  • Minimum of five years experience performing accounting, financial management, or case management duties
  • Knowledge of financial management practices and accounting principles
  • Experience collecting and analyzing data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload, manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
  • Preferred: knowledge of court practices, court financial systems, and/or information systems
