About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete meaningful individual and group engineering projects during a paid 10-week program
  • Perform simple to intermediate engineering analysis and designs
  • Assist with business and engineering plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates, evaluations, and studies
  • Assist in research, business documentation, studies, and technical reviews
  • Conduct analyses, investigations, and verifications
  • Summarize results and findings in written reports or oral presentations
  • Learn business and engineering operations and apply that knowledge to work assignments
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and departments to achieve project goals
  • Present summer project results to the Engineer Senior Leadership Team
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Actively enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university undergraduate program in Civil engineering or a related applied science discipline
  • Approved engineering disciplines include Materials Science/Metallurgy, Physics, Chemistry, Math, Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Electronics, Computer Science, Environmental, Chemical, Architectural, and Structural
  • Must show ongoing achievement in areas of study and training
  • Minimum GPA of 3.2 preferred
  • Knowledge and ability to apply basic discipline engineering principles, practices, and theories
  • Ability to use commonly applied engineering approaches and calculations
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, practices, methods, and safety standards
  • For positions at Palo Verde Generating Stations, applicants will require U.S. person status
  • Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve in the Emergency Response Organization and support refueling or short-notice outages; these are conditions of employment
