About the role
- Provide Political Action Committee (PAC) and lobbying compliance and management services to clients
- Prepare and file Federal and State campaign finance reports and other regulatory filings
- Enter or manage entry of data in client PAC databases; import or enter receipt and disbursement activity and HR files in PAC software
- Screen proposed contributions against relevant prohibitions and limits and track disbursement limits and prohibitions
- Perform banking services (account set-up, deposits, check preparation, ledger, and reconciliation) and regular bank reconciliations
- Assist clients in PAC management, internal reporting, and prepare financial and PAC management reports
- Serve as mentor and assist junior colleagues; may serve as team lead including training new team members and delegating work
- Act as primary relationship manager for selected clients: manage client expectations, communicate project status, increase customer satisfaction, ensure retention, identify upsell opportunities, and resolve product/business issues
- Prepare and file lobbying, pay-to-play and non-profit tax forms as needed; prepare letters to accompany disbursements
- Develop detailed operating procedures for each client and train clients on proper use of the software
- Assist in new client software conversions and custom programming needs; work with Compliance and Development teams to resolve client data or functionality issues
- Respond to client requests in a timely manner and attend events and conferences as company representative
Requirements
- Campaign finance filing experience (required)
- BA/BS in accounting, political science, business, or related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience in filing federal (required) and state (desirable) campaign finance reports
- Professional and interpersonal skills to develop and foster positive relationships
- Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Proficiency in Microsoft software suite and tools, including Excel
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision, and as part of a team
- General knowledge of the legislative process and interest in politics
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Desired: Training, experience, or advanced degree in law or accounting
- Desired: Experience in filing Federal or state lobbying disclosure reports
- Desired: Experience in filing non-profit tax returns (990, 1120 POL)
- Desired: Facility with QuickBooks
