About the role
- Learn and master a highly complex existing portfolio of applications that service the end-to-end process for vital statistics in New York City
- Stay constantly in touch with team members and project leaders: daily check-in/checkout, technical discussions over slack, and active over email.
- Create user personas, user journey maps, and other artifacts to document user insights and design requirements.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that meet user needs and business objectives.
- Work collaboratively with development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure that designs are feasible, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
- Implement front-end designs in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Conduct manual testing efforts across new and existing features to find defects and opportunities for improvement
- Be online and available every weekday during core hours of 10am through 4pm.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, tools, and techniques, and continuously improve design processes and methodologies.
Requirements
- At least 3-5 years of experience in User Experience/User Interface design and/or front-end web development.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in fluent English
- Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Experience conducting user research, creating user personas, and developing user journey maps.
- Proficiency in Figma design tools (Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or other may be acceptable depending on level of expertise)
- Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
- Understanding of front-end development technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with usability testing and other evaluation methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate design concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with developers, project managers, and business owners.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies is a plus.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in technology, design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or a related field.
