About the role
- Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to design high-reliability, safety-critical systems for an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft
- Zonal management of the digital mock-up for a large section of the aircraft, including control of space allocation and routing envelopes for all subsystems
- Ensure all subsystems are accessible and maintainable and that system separation requirements are upheld
- Manage interface requirements models (IRMs) for the assigned zone and the top aircraft assembly part number and BOM structure
- Hold regular design fly-through meetings to resolve conflicts and mature the design through CDR
- Manage master geometry models for the respective zone
- Work closely with manufacturing engineering to ensure the aircraft zone is designed for manufacturing
Requirements
- 10+ years of systems or structural design engineering experience
- BS, MS, or PhD in engineering
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience working on type certification of an aircraft from start to finish under 14 CFR Part 23/25/27/29 or equivalent regulations
- Expert in CAD design and BOM management
- Able to manage digital mock-ups, interface requirements models (IRMs), and master geometry models
- Experience ensuring system separation requirements and designing for manufacturability
- Work authorization in the United States required (Archer is unable to provide work visa sponsorship for this position)
- 2+ years leading teams (preferred)
- Prior experience with EWIS or Environmental control systems (preferred)
- Prior experience in structures design (preferred)
- Shop floor liaison engineering experience (preferred)
- Model based engineering definition experience (preferred)
