About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Spearheading scheduling and tracking deadlines
Lead the development of new system concepts by transforming stakeholder needs, acquired through documentation and solicitation, into easily reviewable technical approaches
Perform requirements elicitation and decomposition using behavioral artifacts such as use cases, activity diagrams, and sequence diagrams to convey understanding of the required behaviors and performance of the system under development
Lead the development of physical and logical system models capturing the system under development utilizing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and tools
Lead system interface development, as captured in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), by converting system and interface requirements into message-level details sufficient to coordinate interface development
Support formal and informal engineering technical reviews
Create, review and critique interface documents, system requirements, verification documentation, architectural documentation, and engineering estimates
Interface with key stakeholders, including the MDA customer and working-level counterparts, as-required
Participate in Agile development planning and execution, including iteration planning and status reporting

Requirements

What you’ll need

Career level typically with an advanced degree and 3+ years experience or bachelors with 5+ years experience or equivalent
wide application of principles, theories, and concepts in their field
provides solutions to a wide range of difficult problems with imaginative and thorough solutions
works under general direction, and results are reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives
failure to achieve results normally results in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources
frequent internal and external customer contacts and represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Ideal candidate will have a Systems Engineering/Architecture with Test Experience background but not required
Systems Engineer with extensive experience working in an integrated team environment with other systems engineers developing solutions covering all aspects of the Systems-Engineering Development Lifecycle
Experience regularly interacting with the customer, specifically in elicitation of customer needs and requirements
Experience with one or more elements of the Missile Defense System
Experience with one or more elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions
Experience with complex Command and Control Systems, especially those with heavy networking capabilities
Experience performing many of the responsibilities of this position, with a particular focus on concept development and requirement decomposition
Experience with using MBSE approaches and tools (e.g. Cameo)
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (written and verbal) with others, present technical content, and receive critical feedback
Ability to support short-notice and/or urgent tasks without a loss of efficiency.
