About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • To provide insightful and high-quality contract management and review services including advice on proposed language changes to mitigate risks.
  • Providing advice and support during the pursuit of new contracts, or updates to existing contracts, provided through the review and negotiation of terms and conditions;
  • Applying Arcadis risk standards to potential contracts or updates to existing contracts to identify risk issues, categorize their impact, propose alternative language aligned with Arcadis’ desired risk profile, and perform minor contract revisions/drafting or negotiation (with oversight from an Arcadis Legal Counsel, as needed);
  • Working closely and proactively with Arcadis Legal Counsels as needed to promote the set-up of opportunities in, use of, and administration of, contracts in Arcadis’ internal contract management database;
  • Providing sound and insightful advice on a variety of matters such as contract review and administration to relevant personnel on same;
  • Promoting and upskilling relevant Arcadis personnel in identification and mitigation of legal and commercial risks, negotiation skills and similar contract management tools;
  • Working effectively with other Arcadis enabling functions and operations leadership to ensure consistency in contract management processes and awareness;
  • Performing legal and factual research under the guidance and direction of Arcadis Legal Counsels;
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by the GSSC Lead Legal Counsel.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Solid business knowledge with tertiary qualifications in a law or legally related discipline, with a preference for contract law.
  • At least three (3) years demonstrated experience as a Contracts Specialist or similar role, including transactional based legal reviews, risk analysis, contract drafting; ideally with broad based industry experience (international exposure an advantage).
  • Contract and performance/risk management experience in all general aspects of environmental consulting or civil engineering; construction industry also valued and an advantage.
  • Post graduate qualifications an advantage.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to support collaboration and operate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be able to work independently, managing time and deadlines without extensive supervision. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks, consistently meeting deadlines in a fast-paced business environment, managing a consistent high-volume of work.
  • Client-focused, entrepreneurial, proactive, pragmatic and highly adept at problem-solving.
  • Motivated to learn things he/she is not familiar with, and adaptable to take that learning experience into good use.
  • Has an eye for both company interests and legal principles, combined with high standard of integrity.
