About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support a regionally focused multi-disciplinary team of junior and peer scientists
- Coordinate additional field monitoring staff per project requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for elevating compliance concerns
- Provide clarification of resource project requirements to compliance monitors
- Review the work of more junior and peer environmental monitors to ensure compliance
- Identify and initiate corrective actions for problem areas identified
- Coordinate with land rights specialists, customer relations and government relations professionals
- Oversee installation, maintenance, and removal of environmental mitigation measures
- Technical ability to read and understand detailed engineering plans and construction drawings
- Ability to communicate with construction contractors to maintain compliance requirements
- Participate in construction meetings and tailgate sessions, leading discussions on environmental compliance
- Conduct daily field inspections of active crews and document compliance with project requirements
- Prepare and submit concise written daily inspection reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- BA/BS degree in environmental science, biology, cultural resources or other similar
- 4-6 years of experience in the environmental compliance field
- Working knowledge of standard utility and vegetation management construction methods, specifications, and standards
- Prior experience with SWPPP, BMP, and erosion controls, including overseeing installation, maintenance, and removal of erosion and sediment control measures
- Experience with authoring and submitting daily inspection reports, conducting field audits with photo documentation, and overseeing contractor spill response
